The peanut massage ball is the equivalent of two lacrosse balls joined together. It targets different muscle groups to the lacrosse ball to help posture, reduce pain, and improve mobility. It is particularly useful for the occipitals, gluteal muscles, tensor fasciae latae (TFL), and the thoracic spine. Foam rollers have traditionally taken the place of manual therapists, but they are bulky and really not specific enough especially around awkwardly shaped body parts, for examples the spine, feet or glutes. People then moved onto using two tennis balls taped together on these areas, but they often slip away and are far too soft to create meaningful changes in muscle tone.

Be your own physio

The peanut ball is more valuable than any foam roller- It allows you to be more specific when targeting certain areas for trigger point therapy, including the hamstrings, pectorals, rotator cuffs, occipitals (base of the head) and the TFL- Get results that a foam roller can only dream of.

Melt your stress away

My favourite thing to do with the peanut ball is to roll out the occipitals- These are at the point where the back of your neck meets your head- This is where we hold most of our tension due to a combination of stress and poor posture- When you lie back on the peanut ball, you will have a pulsating feeling followed by a sensation that all the tension is melting away- This is an extremely effective technique that is regularly used to relieve headaches

Posture

The peanut ball is the ultimate all-in-one tool when it comes to fixing posture- The pectorals (chest muscles) and TFL are the muscles that become the tightest and are the most common causes of poor posture – A peanut ball is the easiest and most effective way of loosening those problem muscles
